Walter Stamm (born June 20, 1941 ) is a former Austrian football player . As a defender , he played several times for the Austrian national team and won the ÖFB Cup twice and the championship once with the Admira Vienna club .

Career

Walter Stamm came to his first appearance in the championship for Admira in the 1958/59 season, he was a member of the club's starting eleven from 1961. With her Stamm achieved their first major success in the 1964 ÖFB Cup. The team reached the final and defeated Wiener Austria in the Prater Stadium through Stamm's goal to 1-0. His club career reached its peak in 1966: Without conceding a goal , Admira again won the Cup in the final against Rapid 1-0. In the championship, Stamm also held up against Rapid; it was used in 25 of 26 games.

The good performances in the championship helped Stamm jump into the national team. He made his debut in Austria's 3-2 away win over England on October 20, 1965. The defender was used in the European Championship qualification for Italy in 1968 and in the World Cup qualification for Mexico in 1970. Walter Stamm played his last season in the championship for Admira, which was now based in Maria Enzersdorfer Südstadt. In total, he played 172 championship games for the club.
