Walter Theimer (born November 5, 1903 in Prague , Austria-Hungary , † October 15, 1989 in Munich ) was a German scientist and non-fiction author .

Life

After his time in a Prague secondary school and then in a commercial academy, Theimer completed an apprenticeship in banking. Until 1939 he worked as an editor for the business and stock exchange sections of the German-language magazine Bohemia . He also worked in the archives of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in London . Walter Theimer had language skills in English, Czech, Russian, Spanish and French.

After the end of the Second World War , he studied chemistry at Imperial College London and later also chose biology and physics. After studying at the Universities of Bern and Hamburg , Theimer received his diploma from the University of Bonn in 1959. At the University of Munich , he was in 1965 for Dr. rer. nat. PhD.

During his studies he also worked as a non-fiction author of political and scientific works. His work The Marxism - Doctrine, Effect, Criticism (1950), which was reprinted for the eighth time in 1985, became particularly well known . In 1977 Theimer's book The Theory of Relativity - Doctrine, Effects, Criticism appeared , in which he criticized Albert Einstein's theory of relativity . According to Hubert Goenner , Theimer's objections were based on an obviously incorrect understanding of the theory, which is why they were not discussed further by experts. As an outsider in science, however, he aroused the interest of the Austrian science journalist Reinhard Schlögl, who discussed Walter Theimer with Gotthard Barth and Ekkehard Friebe on January 12, 1994. Can Einstein be refuted? The pros and cons of the theory of relativity in the Salzburg night studio of ORF Radio Austria 1 .
