Walter Vinson
Walter Vinson (* 2. February 1901 in Bolton , Mississippi ; † 22. April 1975 in Chicago , Illinois ; and Walter Vincson or Walter Vincent called) was an American blues guitarist and singer who especially with the Mississippi Sheiks known has been.
As a child, Vinson was a musician and played at parties and dance events. Mostly he was part of a duo or trio, among others with Charlie McCoy , Rubin Lacy or Son Spand .
Vinson's most fruitful period was his longstanding collaboration with Lonnie Chatmon , with whom he formed the Mississippi Sheiks in the late 1920s . He also made recordings with the Mississippi Hot Footers and performed with Chatmon's brothers Bo and Harry .
After the Mississippi Sheiks disbanded in 1933, Vinson played with various partners and ended up in Chicago . In the mid-1940s he withdrew from music until he was rediscovered in the 1960s.
Walter Vinson died in Chicago in 1975.
