Walter Wöhle

Walter Wöhle (born March 7, 1928 in Pethau ; † January 11, 2020 ) was a German engineer specializing in technical acoustics , building acoustics and room acoustics and professor of technical acoustics at the Technical University of Dresden .

Walter Wöhle received his doctorate in 1956 under Walter Reichardt on "The sound absorption of Helmholtz resonators with sound incidence from all sides and with different spatial arrangements" . From 1958 to 1965 he worked in Babelsberg as laboratory manager and chief engineer at the DEFA studio for feature films. Afterwards he was head of the institute for musical instrument making in Zwota until 1970 .

In 1970 Walter Wöhle was appointed professor for technical acoustics at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1979 he completed his habilitation with the thesis "Contributions to sound radiation and sound propagation" . After reunification he became head of the technical acoustics working group at the newly founded Institute for Technical Acoustics . Walter Wöhle retired on October 31, 1993.
