Walter Wagner (born July 26, 1949 in Lohra ) is a former German football player .

Career

In 1969, Wagner moved from his youth club VfB Altenvers to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt . The young striker made his debut at Eintracht in his second season, the 1970/71 season . In the squad of coach Erich Ribbeck he played eleven games in the first 15 games, he did not score a goal and at the end of the season after his storm colleagues he was the one with the five most appearances behind Jürgen Grabowski , Bernd Nickel , Horst Heese and Thomas Rohrbach . Wagner left Eintracht, hired for one season at SSV Reutlingen and then moved to Austria to FK Austria Wien . After two years in the Austrian Bundesliga, he moved on to Greece. He stayed there for five years and played for AEK Athens , Aris Thessaloniki and Panathinaikos Athens . In 1979 he returned to Germany for one season and laced up the shoes for SV Röchling Völklingen . After another year in Greece with Panachaiki , Wagner ended his career with SG Wattenscheid 09 in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he played 17 games and scored five goals.
