Walter Wiborg

Walter Wiborg (born August 22, 1904 in Kronprinzenkoog / Dithmarschen , † January 28, 1969 in Rendsburg ) was a Low German author and for many years director, actor and director of the Low German stage in Rendsburg.

Life

Walter Wiborg comes from an old Dithmarsch family. He was born in Kronprinzenkoog as the son of a farmer. Low German was actually his mother tongue . After graduating from high school, he studied at the technical university in Hanover. After six semesters he changed saddles and became a middle school teacher. The Second World War took him to the fronts in the east, southeast and southern Europe. After returning from captivity, he was a country teacher in Barlt (Dithmarschen) for a few years . In 1951 he was transferred to the Rendsburg Middle School, where he was appointed vice principal in 1965.

Works

Walter Wiborg is particularly known as a Low German author. He has written five Low German comedies :

  • "Kuckucksroop" (first performance 1941 in the Ohnsorg Theater )
  • "De Nacht int Drievhus" (first performance 1942 in Kiel )
  • "Gode Geister" (1952)
  • "Boastful" (1958)
  • "Dat lütte Rathus" (1967) (world premieres in Rendsburg)

He also wrote Low German "Vertellns", which he published mainly in the monthly "Moderspraak" and in a book ("De last Karkgang"). At the Niederdeutsche Bühne Rendsburg he worked for many years as a director, actor and director. He also felt closely connected with the Nedderdütschen Volksgill, whose oil man he was from 1953 to 1960.
