Walther Kolbe (politician)

Walther Kolbe (born December 27, 1899 in Vienna , † December 25, 1953 in Mainz ) was a German CDU politician . He was a member of the second legislative term of the German Bundestag.

Life

Kolbe attended the Franz-Josef-Realgymnasium in Vienna from 1910 to 1917. After graduating, he took part in the First World War and then studied philosophy from 1918 to 1921. During his studies in 1918 he became a member of the Germania Vienna fraternity . He then studied political science from 1921 to 1924 and received his doctorate in 1925 with a thesis on Hegel's social philosophy . In 1924 and 1925 he worked for the German Student Union and for the German University Ring in Berlin. During this time he also worked as a trainee at Siemens-Schuckert and then as secretary to the President of the German Protection Association . After 1930 he made various trips abroad until 1933, including staying in the United States for study purposes. From 1934 he was the association manager of the industrial associations in the metal goods and electrical industries. Even after the end of the Second World War, he kept these activities. Since 1950 he was the managing director of the working group for industrial design in the Federal Association of German Industry as well as the council for design.

Kolbe was a member of the German Bundestag from the 1953 federal election , in which he was elected from the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia, until his death. He was a full member of the Committee on Press, Broadcasting and Film. He died at the end of December 1953, and Emmi Welter succeeded him in the Bundestag on January 4, 1954 .
