Waltraud Kreutz-Gers

Waltraud Kreutz-Gers (* 1959 ) is a German science manager . Since September 1, 2013, she has been Chancellor of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

Life

Waltraud Kreutz-Gers studied social and economic sciences at the Universities of Bochum and Oldenburg . Your scientific work, u. a. As part of research projects on comparative political science, she carried out several research stays in Canada. She completed this with a doctorate on the reform of election campaign and party financing in Canada at the University of Oldenburg. She also studied administrative sciences and public law at the University of Administrative Sciences Speyer and at the Hagen Open University .

Waltraud Kreutz-Gers has several works a. a. on political parties and their funding, elections, and on issues of administrative control and university funding.

In the Ministry of Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia since 1991, Waltraud Kreutz-Gers was last in 2002 as Head of the Ministerial Counselor, responsible for policy and planning matters in the Ministry of Education, Science and Research. At the same time, in 2000 and 2001 she headed the task force of the North Rhine-Westphalian Expert Council, which was entrusted by the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia with the evaluation of all North Rhine-Westphalian universities and technical colleges.

In spring 2002 Waltraud Kreutz-Gers moved from Düsseldorf to the management of the Max Delbrück Center (MDC) for molecular medicine in Berlin-Buch, a research center of the Helmholtz Association . From March 2002 to July 2003 she was administrative director there.

From August 2003 to August 2013 Waltraud Kreutz-Gers headed the university department in the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Science . The civil servant ministerial director , as head of the Universities, Planning and University Medicine department, was responsible for the legal supervision of all universities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Since the 1990s, Waltraud Kreutz-Gers has been a member of the Senate Commission of the Helmholtz Association and the Leibniz Association , the Health Research Council of the Federal Government, the Teaching Committee and the Medicine Committee of the Science Council and the University Committee of the Conference of Ministers of Education .

In 2010, Waltraud Kreutz-Gers was appointed by the Federal Council as the German state representative for the thematic working group on the modernization of higher education within the framework of European cooperation in the field of general and vocational education ("ET 2020") (see BR-Drucksache 286/10 dated July 30, 2010).
