Wana (Pakistan)
Wana ( Pashtun واڼا; Urdu وانا) is the most important city and administrative center of South Waziristan in Pakistan 's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province (until 2018 to the Tribal Areas under Federal Administration (FATA)).
location
Wana is 17 km from the Afghan-Pakistani border on the eastern edge of a river valley. In the east, north and west, the town is bounded by three mountain ranges that reach heights between 4,500 and 6,500 m.

The village has an airfield with a taxiway 1 km long.
population
The city's population in 2009 was 1,980. The population in Wana consists of Pashtuns , mainly from the Ahmadzai subgroup of the Wazir tribe. Other populations in the city include members of the Mahsud , Bhittani , Kuchi , and Burki tribes from around Wana. There are close cultural and blood ties between these population groups and the Afghan Pashtuns.
