history

The British invaded Waziristan in 1894, which until then had been part of the Durrani Empire . After British military operations from 1894 to 1895, Waziristan was divided into two agencies, North Waziristan and South Waziristan. After Pakistan's independence in 1947, the area became a federally administered tribal district . As part of the conflict in northwestern Pakistan , the area became a stronghold of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and several military operations took place here. In 2018 the tribal areas were dissolved and South Waziristan became part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province as a district.
