The district Lakki Marwat ( Urdu لکی مروت) is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Lakki Marwat .
location
The district is located in the south of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Lakki Marwat borders the Dera Ismail Khan and Tank districts to the south, and the Bannu and Karak districts to the north . In the east is Mianwali in Punjab , in the west Lakki Marwat borders on the tribal areas under federal administration .

The district extends over a plain west of the Indus . The mean height is 171 m . In the northeast the district is bounded by the lower reaches of the Kurram . Ridge ridges run along the district boundary in the southeast and southwest. The western district is traversed by the Tochi (also known as the Gambila ) and its right tributaries.
climate
The climate is arid to semi-arid. Summers are hot and winters are cold. In June and July temperatures reach values between 35 and 45 ° C. The coldest months are December, January and February with temperatures between 5 and 8 ° C.
history
Lakki Marwat was founded in October 1950 as a sub-division of Bannu District. Since July 1, 1992 Lakki Marwat is an independent district.
languages
The dominant language in Lakki Marwat is Pashtun (99%). The Marwat and Bettani ethnic groups have their own dialects. Hindko is only spoken around the town of Lakki Marwat.
