The district Swabi is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa . The seat of the district administration is the city of the same name Swabi .
The district has an area of 1543 km² and according to the 2017 census 1,624,616 inhabitants. The population density is 1053 inhabitants / km².
geography
The district is located in the northeast of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, which is in the north of Pakistan.
history
The district was created in 1988 from parts of Mardan .
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 2.44% annually. Around 17% of the population live in urban regions and around 83% in rural regions. 815,526 men, 809,047 women and 43 transgender people live in 214,209 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 100.8 men per 100 women, which is a common surplus for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 49% (women: 34%, men: 65%) and thus below the average of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of 53%.
