Wanawara ( Russian Ванавара ) is an Evenk village in the Russian Krasnoyarsk region (until its dissolution on January 1, 2007 in the Evenk Autonomous Okrug ) on the banks of the Stony Tunguska . It has 3153 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
An explosion took place 65 kilometers from the trading settlement in 1908, presumably due to a comet or asteroid crash. This is known today as the Tunguska event . In Wanawara, windows and doors were dented despite the great distance, which shows the high explosive power.
