Wanda Kay (born February 19, 1971 in Essen ; real name: Tanja Leiendecker) is a German pop and pop singer .

Life

In 1979 Tanja Leiendecker appeared for the first time together with her father, who also sings under the stage name Dirk Stauber, at smaller events around Velbert . As a teenager she founded her first girl group “Die Popcorn Girls” during school time. At 17 she was the youngest carnival princess in the Rhineland and recorded the foolish song Alles Paletti during her tenure .

At the beginning of the 1990s she founded the group “Toll” with Olaf Henning and Les Montes, with which she performed for the first time across Germany. In the late 1990s Tanja Leiendecker became "Wanda Kay" and she toured with her two dancers in the formation "Three-2-Gether" to Mallorca. At the beginning of 2002 there was a new project: With the swing group “Dreimalig” they took first place in the listener charts on WDR 4 several times.

In the following years she became known mainly in the gay scene with her 1980s party cover program. She played the leading role in shows at Warner Bros. Movie World in Bottrop for five years and also began working in travesty shows . In 2009 she appeared on the show Das Supertalent . Jury member Dieter Bohlen said of her that she had no personality.

Since 2010 she has been producing her own songs with self-written texts. In 2011, Wanda Kay wrote Dick in the Business , a one-woman personality show about her life. It differs from a classic play in that she sings over and over again between the comedy interludes. The premiere was in 2011 in the Revue Palast Herten.

With her new program "Caution Explosive" - ​​Wanda Kay has only been on the stages of Germany with pianists since 2015.

Wanda Kay has been a guest artist on the AIDA cruise ships since 2016.

Wanda Kay registered a civil partnership in Essen in 2009 and currently lives with her partner in Meerbusch .
