The Wanderer W 25 K is a sports car with a six-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive from the Wanderer brand , which Auto Union brought out in 1936 as a competitor to the BMW 328 .
technology
The overhead in- line engine with 2 liter displacement , designed by Ferdinand Porsche for the Wanderer W 20 as early as 1931, was charged with a Roots compressor in the Wanderer W 25 K and developed 85 hp (62.5 kW) at 5000 rpm. The four-speed gearbox is operated via a gear lever in the middle of the car. The box-frame cars have the floating axle with transverse leaf spring adopted by DKW at the rear and were available as elegant two-seater sports convertibles or roadsters.
The supercharged motor was not particularly reliable and did not have high torque at low speed. As a result, many cars were later converted to six-cylinder naturally aspirated engines from Wanderer or Opel .
258 vehicles were built by 1938. The last 37 cars were sold without a compressor with an engine output of 40 hp (29.5 kW) as the Wanderer W 25 .
