The mural in the Lambertus Church in Düsseldorf dates from the second half of the 15th century and is a work of the Cologne School. It was restored by Heinrich Lauenstein in the 19th century . The mural is located in the south aisle of the sacred building and shows a figure of Mary with the Christ child. Six angels surround the two figures. The angels are grouped into pairs and given various attributes. So with musical instruments, books and banners. The founder can be seen at the bottom left. Paul Clemen describes the work of art in detail in Die Kunstdenkmäler der Stadt und der Kreis Düsseldorf :

“… The larger picture of the enthroned Madonna with the Christ Child on her lap, restored by Professor Lauenstein (Fig. 11), a fine and important work of the Cologne School. The Madonna is seated on a broad cushion throne in a blue skirt and red robe embroidered with golden pomegranates. Above her six angels, the first pair with musical instruments, the second with books, the third with banners: GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO - ET IN TERRA PAX HOMINIBUS . At the bottom left the founder kneels with the inscription: SANCTA MARIA ORA PRO NOBIS . "
