The history of the village began in 1864 when the land in the area was sold. In 1865 a traveler reported that the place consisted of two restaurants, a blacksmith shop and a shoemaker's shop.
Weather records have been kept since 1867. The temperature differences are very large during a year, ranging from an average monthly high temperature of 31.6 ° C in February to a low of 3.6 ° C in July. The annual precipitation averages 366.3 milliliters.
