Wachenburg heraldic gate

The Wachenburg coat of arms gate is part of the Wachenburg castle complex near Weinheim.

meaning

On the outer front, it bears the color coats of arms and circles of the corps of the Weinheim Senior Citizens 'Convent (WSC) carved in stone before the merger with the Rudolstadt Senior Citizens' Convention and is therefore a memorial-historical representation of the WSC in its original composition from the Corps of Technical Universities and mining academies as well as the Hohenheim Agricultural University .

history

The Wachenburg's coat of arms gate is one of the buildings in the Wachenburg, which was built between 1907 and 1913 and was completed at the beginning of this first construction phase. After the inauguration of the keep on May 31, 1908, the castle tavern and the coat of arms gate were opened on May 29, 1909. With the exception of the coat of arms of the Corps Helvetia Zurich , which was suspended in 1865, the coats of arms of all WSC corps from 1909 were attached to the outer front. These were successively supplemented by further coats of arms. Finally, the coat of arms of the Corps Montania Breslau was attached, which was included in the WSC in 1926. The room above the doorway was expanded into the Rheno Guestphalen room in 1930 .
