The Complex is the third album by the hip-hop band Schlagzeiln . It was released on October 26, 2009.
layout
The cover, which is also a fold-out mini-poster, shows several dozen robots, which - similar to the terracotta army - are lined up. The heads of the band members are projected into four.
Texts
Stylistically, the album can be assigned to Conscious Rap , with most of the lyrics appearing ostensibly satirical. The intro is a kind of "rapped synopsis". Automaten criticizes technical progress , which means that people are counting less and less. At the end there is a sample of robots from the band Kraftwerk .
In Germany an athlete is is former personified and ironically denounced the local power company. In Between Index and Middle Finger , Refpolk and Kobito explain how little they like their surroundings and, in a masterly manner , how they hide their depressive, vulnerable side behind a cheerful facade.
Rosen represents an ironic plea that Nazis should not be fought with hatred and violence, but with affection. A factual dialogue can often refute their worldview.

At the beginning of the tick flood , a news report can be heard warning of ticks in view of the beginning summer time. The rapper is served at the piece of a metaphor, which left from right are often referred to disparagingly as "ticks". In terms of content, it is about a party that is referred to as a “tick flood”. Moving target and therefore I won't say anything anymore contain self-reflections, the latter partly containing self-characterizations by Kobito, Refpolk and guest rapper Sookee .
Hundred percent MC is the only track on the album that can be attributed to battle rap . In It could be worse to be bullying and burnout , but also focuses on the relativity of their own problems.
reception
Rapspot.de distributed three and a half of a total of four points for the album and drew the following summary: “Overall, headlines with“ The Complex ”create an album on which there should be something for everyone thematically. Musically as well as lyrically it is about a round thing that can be heard. "
On Roter-shop.de the album is described as “a wild, uncontrollable hip-hop mixture of varied beats, grandiose lyrics, party and politics, everyday and profound. Damn danceable, with cool samples and a lot of heart and mind ” and as a “ perfect mix of elevator techno and Eastern punk: pills vs. Pogo, sampler vs. Live instruments, rhyming book vs. Demo mob and brainwave vs. hungover. Still angry, still hungry, and at the same time more cynical and secure ” . It is also praised that the texts always have substance.
