The Warbizapass ( Bulgarian Върбишки проход ) is located in the Balkan Mountains , Bulgaria . The pass connects the places Warbiza and Beronowo . In 811 Khan Krum's troops defeated the Byzantine Emperor Nikephorus I in an ambush at the Battle of the Warbiza Pass .
