The Wardenis Mountains ( Armenian Վարդենիսի լեռնաշղթա ; Russian Вардени́сский хребе́т ) is a mountain range in Armenia .
The Wardenis Mountains delimit the Sevan Basin in the south. It belongs to the Armenian highlands . The mountain range extends over a length of approximately 60 km in the WSW-ONE direction. The mountains reach a maximum height of 3522 m in the Wardenis . It consists mainly of basalt and andesite . A steppe of xerophytes , drought-loving plants, grows on the mountain slopes . Alpine vegetation occurs at higher altitudes.
