The Warren County Courthouse in Indianola , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Warren County in the southern center of the US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is Warren County's third courthouse. The first courthouse was a log cabin built in 1851 that served several different purposes. The first building used purely as a courthouse was built in 1868 in Victorian style. As the building became increasingly dilapidated, it was decided in 1936 to build a new court and administrative building for the county.
In the same year, a bond was issued to finance it and further funds were made available by the Public Works Administration (PWA) as part of the New Deal . The architectural office Keffer & Jones was entrusted with the planning and the company FB Dickinson Co. with the construction. The foundation stone was laid in 1938 and in the following year the new building in the PWA Moderne style , a direction of modernism , was given its purpose.
In 2003 the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 03000818 .
