Warren Johansson

Warren Johansson (born February 21, 1934 in Philadelphia - † June 10, 1994 ) was an American author and LGBT activist.

Life

Johansson was born Philip Joseph Wallfield in Philadelphia in 1934. In order to distance himself from his Jewish origins, he changed his name. After finishing school, Johansson studied at Columbia University in New York. Johansson learned almost all modern European languages ​​as well as ancient Greek , Latin , Hebrew and Aramaic . He did his Masters in Slavic Studies, but did not do a PhD.

Johansson was a founding member of the Scholarship Committee of the Gay Academic Union . As an author, Johansson wrote several books, including together with Walter Henry Breen , who published the book Greek Love in 1964 under the pseudonym JZ Eglinton , a German translation appeared in 1967 under the title Greek Love .
