Natori Wasaku

Natori Wasaku ( Japanese 名 取 和 作 ; born April 28, 1872 in Suwa County , Chikuwa Prefecture (now Nagano Prefecture ); † June 4, 1959 ) was a Japanese businessman and politician.

Life

Natori Wasaku was one of the first to graduate from the elite private Keio University .

In 1899 Natori received a two-year scholarship to Columbia University in New York. In 1901 he returned to Keiō University via Berlin , where he pursued a scientific career with little success. He then switched to business.

In 1920 Natori founded the predecessor company of today's Fuji Denki Group as (a joint venture with the German Siemens AG ). After the end of the Second World War , Natori was also politically active and was for a short time a member of the Herrenhaus , the upper house of the Reichstag . He was in private friendship with the Japanese Prime Minister Yoshida Shigeru .

Natori Wasaku's wife, Natori Fukuko, came from a Mitsui Zaibatsu family. Her father, Asabuki Eiji, was also an entrepreneur and one of the founders of Japan's modern economy. She was also related to the Japanese scout Fukuzawa Yukichi .

Natori Wasaku is the father of Natori Yōnosuke .
