The Washington Valor are an arena football team from Washington, DC currently playing in the Arena Football League (AFL). The Valor play their home games in the Capital One Arena in Washington.
history
The Valor were founded in 2016. Founders and owners are Monumental Sports & Entertainment Group , an entertainment company from Washington, DC. The company owns various sports clubs such as the Washington Wizards , Washington Capitals and AFL competitor of the Valor, the Baltimore Brigade . They also have various arenas such as the Capital One Arena , EagleBank Arena and the Kettler Capitals Iceplex.
The Valor started playing for the 2017 season. This is anything but successful. In the Arena Football League, which has five teams, you are ranked last after nine games with one win and eight losses.
The first home game on April 7, 2017 was clearly won with 51:38 in front of 15,000 spectators against the Baltimore Brigade. In the end, however, the playoffs were clearly missed. Even a year later, the Valor could not move into the playoffs. In the first two years the Valor only won five of their 26 games.
Washington only started in the 2019 season, won seven main round games and was thus able to secure a playoff spot. Nevertheless, both the outward and the away game against the Philadelphia Soul were lost in the first round and were therefore eliminated.
Stadion
The Valor play their home games at the Verizon Center in Washington, which can accommodate over 20,000 spectators . They share the stadium with the Washington Wizards and Washington Capitals, among others .
