Waslala is a district in the Autónoma de la Costa Caribe Norte region of Nicaragua . It is 111 km from Matagalpa and 241 km from Managua .

history

The meaning of the word Waslala was in the language of the Indigenous Silver River. The original colonization motif precious metal mines. The Acción Cívica, a department of the Guardia Nacional de Nicaragua , which carried out public works, built the road to Waslala in 1977.

The region was between FSLN - guerrilla and Guardia Nacional highly competitive. On November 8, 1976, Carlos Fonseca was killed in Zinica .

The main town is connected to the electricity network and has an internet café . The 95 other villages belonging to the municipality are neither connected to the electricity nor to a drinking water network. Individual companies have power generators.

Waslala has a tropical climate with two seasons, one wet and one dry. The annual precipitation is between 1,300 and 1,500 mm.
