The Kloppenheim water tank

The water tank Kloppenheim is as high container engineered water tank in the area of the Hessian town Karben .

It was built in 1911 on a small hill about one kilometer south of the village of Kloppenheim . The client was the Niddatal Group, which in the first decade of the 20th century built a central water supply for the villages in the central Niddatal .

The elevated tank, which was supposed to ensure the water supply for Kloppenheim, was designed as a massive reinforced concrete structure . However, following the contemporary taste of historicism, attempts were made to aesthetically exaggerate the functional building by means of an elaborate design of the facade. In the structure of the visible part of the waterworks there are elements of ancient grave structures. The entrance is lined with four massive half-columns.
