The La Tasajera hydropower plant (Spanish: Central hidroeléctrica La Tasajera ) is located 25 km northeast of the city of Medellín in central northern Colombia in the Antioquia department .
The cavern power plant is located in the Colombian Central Cordillera on the northern slope of the river valley of the Río Medellín , the Valle de Aburrá . The power plant, which went into operation in 1993, has three units, each with a vertically directed 102 MW Pelton turbine with 4 nozzles. The power plant is supplied with water from the Riogrande II reservoir , which is located on the Río Grande river . This reaches the power plant via an approximately 7 km long pipeline. The gross height of fall is 933 m. The expansion water volume is 13.25 m³ / s per unit. Below the power station, the water is channeled into the Rìo Medellín river.
