The Ohrnberg hydropower plant is a power plant on the Kocher in the town of Ohrnberg, part of the town of Öhringen .
history
Construction of the power plant began in 1922, and it was commissioned in 1924.
technology
The hydropower plant was equipped with a Francis twin turbine and a Francis twin turbine when it was built . Between 2004 and 2006, the two old turbines were replaced by Francis shaft turbines.
The power plant is a so-called diversion power plant . The water is directed from the weir in Sindringen via a 4.2 km long canal to the Ohrnberg reservoir in today's Vogelhalde Sindringen – Ohrnberg nature reserve . From the reservoir, the water flows in an approximately 1.1 km long tunnel through the ridge to the power station located between Ohrnberg and Möglingen . A useful gradient of 8.5 to 11.2 m is achieved through the tunnel.
