The water tower of the Frankfurt district of Eschersheim is a water tower in Frankfurt-Eschersheim, Am Lindenbaum. It is a listed building and is one of the 20 tallest structures in Frankfurt am Main .

Architecture and history

The water tower was built in 1901 together with the first Eschersheim waterworks in Baroque forms with a conical tower shaft and a cylindrical attachment and cantilever arms with a two-storey, slated basin. On the north side there is a decorative bay window and a turret. The tower had a water reservoir of 300,000 liters. It was only used as a water tower until 1910, after which Eschersheim was incorporated and the water supply was organized centrally from Frankfurt.

Erected on open land, the Am Lindenbaum housing estate was built around the tower in the 1920s based on a design by Walter Gropius . Like the place, the tower was largely spared from bombing during the air raids on Frankfurt am Main during the Second World War .

Todays use

The rooms have served as a meeting place for the Catholic German Student Union Moeno-Franconia Frankfurt am Main in the CV since 2003 . It is open to the public once or twice a year.
