The Carl-Miele-Straße water tower is an almost 30-meter-high water tower on the premises of the home appliance manufacturer Miele in Gütersloh . Alongside the Friedrichstrasse water tower, it is the second water tower in the East Westphalian district town.

The water tower was built in 1917 as a supply point for the Prussian state railways on the trunk line of the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft near the Gütersloh main station.

In the 1950s, the Miele company expanded its plant in Gütersloh- Nordhorn to include part of the station grounds. After the water-powered steam locomotives had become obsolete and the water tower, which was now located in the middle of the factory premises, was no longer needed for its original purpose, Miele leased it from the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1959, along with water rights . The company put its distinctive logo on the tower, which has since been called the “Miele water tower”.

On July 4, 1988, the comparatively simple water tower u. a. Due to its special construction, it is placed under monument protection and entered in the list of architectural monuments in Gütersloh under the number A 129 . It is believed to be the only water tower in Westphalia that is completely made of reinforced concrete . The water tank rests on ten diagonal supports that remove the outer masonry and formed pillars.

In 2013 Miele bought the water tower from the BahnflächenEntwicklungsGesellschaft NRW (BEG) for a symbolic price. In 2014, the tower was renovated for around 250,000 euros and was given a red and white (instead of the previous green and white) paint.
