Waterburg

The Waterburg , also called Waterborg , is a defunct tower hill castle (Motte) at the end of a peninsula of Lake Selenter in the municipality of Giekau in the Plön district in Schleswig-Holstein . Next to the castle is the Neuhaus (Giekau) castle .

The double castle complex on an elongated oval hill, dating from the 13th to 14th centuries, consisted of two tower mounds. The castle site , which still shows the castle hill with a moat , is only accessible in dry seasons or when there is severe frost.
