The Waterside Plaza is from a settlement, Mitchell-Lama Housing Program was financed and the East River directly to the district Kips Bay in New York City District Manhattan is. The road from Waterside Plaza by car is either via 23rd Street or via a residential street that leads to 34th Street.

The housing estate was built in the early 1970s under Richard Ravitch . The high-rise apartment buildings that make up Waterside Plaza were built together with the neighboring United Nations International School on a platform over the East River. The first apartment building opened in 1973, the entire complex a year later.

The complex consists of four residential towers and a number of two-story townhouses with a total of 1,470 residential units. All buildings are clad with red bricks. They span a large square that overlooks the East River. The settlement offers residents a fitness center that can also be used by people who do not live in Waterside Plaza and a parking garage. United Nations International School

All year round, Waterside Plaza hosts events that are free and open to the public. The most popular are the summer open-air concerts in July and the open-air cinema evenings, which take place on Mondays in August. There is also a short play festival (theater), a dance festival, a spring flea market, an electronics recycling day and monthly theater readings.

In 2008 the Make Music New York festival took place in Waterside Plaza , with a total of 17 bands performing on three stages - on the bank, in the gardens and on the square.

On June 28, 2010, PF Chang's China Bistro held a charity event on the roof of one of the waterside skyscrapers. Professional golfers such as Annika Sörenstam , Briny Baird and Don Vickery performed . They took turns trying to hit a target that was floating on the East River with gold balls. The event raised $ 100,000 for a variety of charities, including the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund .

Architectural importance
