The valley through which the Wattenbach flows is deeply cut into the quartz phyllite of the Tux Prealps . In the outer part of the valley, the two scattered settlements of the municipalities of Wattenberg and the district of Wattens Vögelsberg extend . At the end of the valley is the Wattentaler Lizum with the military training area Lizum Walchen of the Austrian Armed Forces , where soldiers from other armies, e.g. B. the German armed forces are trained. The Wattentaler Lizum is located exclusively in the municipality of Wattenberg.

The water power of the Wadden valley, which is rich due to the large catchment area of the Wattenbach, was the reason for the settlement of internationally successful industrial companies ( Swarovski , cotton wool ) in the valley community of Wattens on the Inn . The Wattental was and is the reason for the economic rise of the market town of Wattens to one of the wealthiest communities in Austria.

The valley is popular as a local recreation area. The panoramic mountains Rotwandspitze, Hirzer and Hahneburger can be climbed from there. In the rear part of the valley ( Mölsberg ), access is restricted through the military training area. On the first Sunday after the Assumption of Mary , the Mölsberg Mass in memory of the valley dwellers who fell in the World Wars takes place at the summit cross of the Mölsberg, centrally located in the Wattentaler Lizum. The military training area, which is otherwise closed to public traffic, is open on this day.
