The Wattenbach or Wattenerbach is a right tributary of the Inn in Tyrol .
course
The Wattenbach has its origin in the Tux Prealps . Mölsbach and Lizumbach unite in the valley floor near the Walchen camp at an altitude of 1405 m above sea level. A. and form the Wattenbach. The 8.1 km long Lizumbach rises below the Lizumer Reckner at an altitude of 2419 m above sea level. A. ( ⊙ ), the Mölsbach is the outflow of the Mölsee ( 2251 m above sea level , ⊙ ) and 5.8 km long. The Wattenbach flows from the Wattentaler Lizum from south to north almost in a straight line through the Wattental . After 11.6 km it flows into the Inn in the valley community of Wattens . With the Lizumbach as the longest source brook, it has a length of 19.7 km and an altitude difference of 1874 m.
Water quality
The water quality class of the stream is continuously level I. The municipality of Wattenberg directs its wastewater through a municipal sewer into the Fritzens sewage works, wastewater from the Lizum Walchen military training area is treated by its own sewage treatment plants. The water of the Wattenbach is used for the Swarovski and cotton paper mills . The wastewater that has been pre-treated in both company sewage treatment plants then passes through a culvert under the Inn into the municipal sewage treatment plant Abwasserverband Hall in Tirol - Fritzens and then into the Inn. From the municipality of Wattens onwards, the Inn has, despite all efforts, a reduced water quality because of the industrial facilities in Wattens; however, the entry of heavy metals has been greatly reduced in the last 20 years thanks to improved technology in wastewater treatment plants.
use
The water from the Wattenbach is used intensively for energy purposes by a total of nine hydropower plants in the stream, and the water also serves as process water in the industrial plants in the Inn Valley .
hazards
As whitewater , the brook in the Wattental is raging and used to be responsible for floods, as there are no retention areas due to the V-shaped Wattental. An intensive torrent control (with two bedload collectors in the valley and a short border of the stream bed in the area of Wattens) reduced the speed of the water runoff. Since then there have been no more floods.
