The WaveLight GmbH develops and manufactures diagnostic and surgical technologies of vision correction with laser eye surgery . WaveLight is a subsidiary of Alcon .
WaveLight has locations in Erlangen (development and administration), Pressath (production) and Teltow .
history
WaveLight Laser Technologie AG was founded on April 30, 1996 by Maximilian Reindl, who previously worked for the Aesculap Group in the field of laser technology. When it was founded, WaveLight initially developed and produced lasers for removing scars, wrinkles and hair . Lasers were later developed and used in urology . In 1999, WaveLight initially expanded to include the ophthalmic product segment before adding another division for lasers for industrial labeling to the company portfolio. WaveLight has focused exclusively on ophthalmology since the mid-2000s.
In 1999 the company went public.
The WaveLight Laser Technologie AG share was listed in the Prime Standard of Deutsche Börse AG .
Until the NEMAX 50 was discontinued in December 2004, the share was traded on the Neuer Markt .
WaveLight has been a 100 percent subsidiary of Alcon since 2007.
In the middle of 2009, company founder Maximilian Reindl left the company.
The company has been operating under the name WaveLight GmbH since 2010.
In December 2010, Alcon and WaveLight became members of the Swiss Novartis group.
In 2011 Martin Reichelt took over the management.
Awards
- In 1998 Maximilian Reindl was awarded 1st place in the IHK Founder's Prize for Middle Franconia for WaveLight.
- In 2000 WaveLight was awarded the Bavarian Innovation Prize for the project of a high-precision laser system for the reliable improvement of visual acuity and correction of ametropia.
- In 2002 WaveLight received the German Entrepreneur Award in the entrepreneur category .
