Coordinates: 33 ° 54 ′ S , 151 ° 16 ′ E The Waverley Municipal Council is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Waverley belongs to the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 9.4 km² and has about 67,000 inhabitants.
Waverley is located in Inner Sydney on the Pacific coast about 6 km east of the city center. The area includes 24 districts: Ben Buckler, Bondi , Bondi Beach , Bondi Junction , Bondi North, Bondi South, Bronte, Bronte Beach, Charing Cross, Dover Heights, Lugar Brae, Mill Hill, Queens Park, Tamarama, Tamarama Bay, Waverley, Waverley East, Waverley South and parts of Centennial Park, Diamond Bay, Rose Bay , Rose Bay North, Vaucluse and Vaucluse Heights. The council's administrative headquarters are located in the Bondi Junction district on the western edge of the LGA.

The Waverley Council has twelve members elected by the residents of the four wards (three each from Hunter, Bondi, Waverley and Lawson Ward). These four districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
