The Waxeneckhaus is in the municipality of Pernitz preferred shelter the nature lovers in the Gutensteiner Alps in Lower Austria .
It is located on the southern slope of the Waxeneck near the Geyersattel and can be reached on foot via a forest road from the Hals or via Feichtenbach from Pernitz. From Pottenstein you get to the Waxeneckhaus via Grabenweg on a small path along the ridge above Grabenweg. Hiking trail (2) 01 also leads over the neck (crossing the pass road): from Weissenbach an der Triesting via the settlement (village) Am Brand and the Red Cross .
The Waxeneckhaus was built between 1919 and 1920 by the local groups Bernsdorf and Pottenstein the tourist association "Friends of Nature" (TVN) built in 1934 , the association was dissolved. After 1945 the refurbishment and expansion of the refuge was carried out by the re-established local group.
Today the Waxeneckhaus offers overnight accommodation and a heated seminar room for 25 people.
