The neck is a mountain pass in the Lower Austrian pre-Alps. With a peak height of 662 m above sea level. A. it connects the Triestingtal near Pottenstein with the Piestingtal near Pernitz . The top of the pass itself bears the name Auf dem Hals .
A private road leads from the neck to the Waxeneckhaus .
The road over the neck was laid out on a special initiative by Johann Baptist Ignaz von Waldstätten (1772–1841), head of the district under the Vienna Woods , in the years 1826/27.
