The Feistritzsattel is a 1298  m above sea level. A. (according to other information 1290  m , or 1286  m ) high mountain pass that connects the Lower Austrian Bucklige Welt with Styria . The saddle is located between the exchange ( 1743  m ) in the southeast and the Great Pfaff ( 1555  m ) and the still further by the Pfaffensattel separate Stuhleck ( 1784  m ) to the west. The Lower Austrian circular hiking trail and the Central Alpine Trail (Austrian long-distance hiking trail 02) lead over it.

The road over Feistritzsattel (state road L175 in Lower Austria and L407 in Styria) is already on the maps of the Josephinische Landesaufnahme on the Lower Austrian side around 1780 , as is a connection to Pfaffensattel along the Styrian border. In 1894 the last steep section on the Lower Austrian side was not yet fully developed. In 2015 the street on the Lower Austrian side was refurbished for the last time. Template: future / in 5 yearsRemarkably, the height information on the street board is "missing" 12 meters.

Until 1958, the Feistritzwaldbahn ran from Steinhaus am Semmering to Rettenegg along the ridge from the Fröschnitzsattel ( 1273  m above sea level ) over the Feistritzsattel, where it crossed the street and the saddle station was located. Today a forest and hunting theme trail leads along the old route and the federal state border from Feistritzsattel to the east.

The Feistritzsattel is the starting point for hikes in the Wechsel area and on the Sonnwendstein and neighboring elevations to the north . In winter the Feistritzsattel starting point for cross-country skiing - trails . To the north below is a local ski area.

Trivia

Rivers called Feistritz flow on both sides of the Feistritzsattel. The Feistritz flowing to the north flows into the Pitten and to the south the Feistritz flows into the Lafnitz .
