The Ochsattel is 820 m above sea level. A. high mountain pass in southern Lower Austria , which leads from the Traisental to the south-east to the Grünen Schwarza . The Gutensteiner Straße B21 also leads over it as a pass road ; after the pass it climbs a little to the east, then descends into the Kalte Kuchl and leads over the Rohrer Sattel into the Piestingtal region and the Schneeberg area.
The ascent in the Traisental begins at Hohenberg or Hofamt ( 480 m ) and is possible on two state roads . It is relatively gentle, while the apex has an incline of about 10%. 5 km after the top of the pass, the road descends to the east into the Kalte Kuchl - a small village around the inn of the same name. There the road divides into 3 possible routes:
- To the north through the Innerach and past the Jochart ( 1266 m ) to Kleinzell and on into the Gölsental and Hainfeld
- in an easterly direction to the tourist centers Rohr im Gebirge and Gutenstein
- to the south over the Gschaiderwirt to Schwarzau in the mountains and on through the Höllental to Schneeberg / Rax or into the Vienna Basin .
