The Michelbühel is a 999  m above sea level. A. high pass in the southern Mostviertel in Lower Austria, near the Styrian Mariazell .

The pass lies between the St. Aegyder villages of Gscheid to the south and Ulreichsberg to the west, and thus connects this more remote place to the municipality (via the Kernhofer Gscheid ). Michelbühl is also the name of a house above the pass, the houses on the Gscheider side are called Tobiasl .

To the south the Salza headwaters come into the valley, to the west the Karnerbach runs to Ulreichsberg, and then goes over the Walster to the Salza in Halltal .

The Michelbühel connects the Ulreichsberg (Hoher,  1276  m above sea level ) with the Traisenberg (Enzian  1230  m above sea level ), two pre-alpine mountain ranges of the Türnitz Alps (group Traisenberg – Sulzberg ). The summit directly to the west is 1139  m above sea level. A. high foothills of the Ulreichsberg ridge, west of the approximately 1188  m high Trariegel . To the north rise the ridges of the castle wall  ( 1215  m above sea level ) and Carnermauer  ( 1176  m above sea level ).

The 13.7 km long state road L101 leads over the Michelbühel from Mariazeller Strasse  (B 20) to Annaberg via Ulreichsberg to Gutensteiner Strasse  (B 21) in Gscheid. The Traisental cycle path also runs over the pass .

Individual evidence

  1. a b The Austrian name directory Geonam locates the Michelbühel as its southern flank. Presumably the transition to Unrechttraisenamt , which is significantly shorter to St. Aegyd, was also named with the name earlier ;
    however, the name for this saddle is customary in the area, see Motorradbergung Michelbühel , mission report on wax.AT - The portal for fire and rescue services , May 20, 2012 (accessed April 28, 2015);
    on the mountain see also Michelbühel and Trariegel - Koanzenkogl , ski tour description Willi Kreuzer, March 31, 2009.
  2. The Austrian map does not give an account. The height of the Rottenbach – Salza watershed, which runs over the pass, is 999 m according to laser scan data (NÖGIS → Subject Water Book ).
