Wayne County & The Electric Chairs was a band formed in 1977 by American travesty artist Wayne County . She played punk and glam rock in harmony with the weird stage show of her shrill costumed singer Wayne County.

Band history

Wayne County already had a name in the New York punk scene but couldn't find an American record company to sign him. When he moved to London in 1977, he founded Wayne County & The Electric Chairs with guitarist Geg Van Cook, bassist Val Haller and drummer John Johnson, known as 'JJ', and released their debut album in 1978 under the Safari label The Electric Chairs out. The band, which is one of the veterans of punk rock with songs like Fuck Off and Eddie and Sheena , toured the club scene together in the following years and appeared in various films that document the first wave of punk rock. On December 9, 1978 County appeared with his band in the Dortmund Westfalenhallen . The concert was broadcast in the Rockpalast series on German television.

County later changed its first name to Jayne and performed primarily as a solo artist at Jayne County . In 1980 he moved to Berlin, where he took on a leading role in Rosa von Praunheim's film City of Lost Souls . In 1995 he published his autobiography, Man Enough to be Woman .

In 1980 in Berlin, County played some concerts staged by Anthony Ingrassia in the Café Metropol under the name Rock'n Roll Peep Show . County gathered some Berlin musicians for a German version of the Electric Chairs ; Joe Koli took care of bass, Norbert Hoena on drums, Erik Küppers on guitar and Chris Lewis on keyboard.
