Wayne Gray (* 1944 ) is an American guitarist . He started his career as a rock and roll musician and later switched to country .
Life
Wayne Gray started his music career in 1958 as a 14 year old boy in Kent Westberry's band, the Chaperones . Gray recorded his first records with this band for the local Art Records label and later also played on songs by Buck Trail as a guitarist. Miami's lively club scene was enough of a job for Gray, and by the 1950s he made regular appearances at Club 17, where he met Odell Smith, who later brought him to Nashville , Tennessee . Appearances were also made with Charlie McCoy .
In the late 1950s, Gray moved to Nashville. There he recorded the single Spaceman's Guitar with Kent Westberry and Snuffy Smith as background musicians . But it wasn't until the late 1960s that Gray was able to get a more lucrative job. He became guitarist and singer in Tex Ritter's band, the Boll Weevils , with whom Kent Westberry played again. In the late 1970s, Gray was a member of Tommy Cash's backing band.
