Buck Trail

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Buck Trail (pseudonym of Ronald B. Killette ; born December 30, 1921 , † August 7, 1996 ) was an American country and rockabilly musician and songwriter.

Life

According to Kent Westberry , Buck Trail was older than Westberry, who was also active in Miami's music scene . Trail started his career as a country musician and also worked as an organizer, so he got Westberry and its Chaperones first gigs in southern Florida. In 1955 Trail founded his own label, Trail Records , which he mainly used for his own singles.

In 1958, Trail switched to rockabilly. His first single in this style came out around 1958 with Honky Tonk on Second Street / Beneath Miami Skies . It was followed by other records, which he recorded mainly with the Dead Enders for Trail. Chaperones member Wayne Gray played guitar on his two most famous songs, Knocked Out Joint on Mars and The Blues Keep Knocking .

Trail was also active as a songwriter. At least he wrote all of his rockabilly tracks himself and also composed for other musicians. For example, Moon Mullican recorded Trails Seven Nights to Rock in 1956 , which was later also covered by Nick Lowe , Bruce Springsteen and Elizabeth McQueen of Asleep at the Wheel . Girl Watcher was recorded by Louis Armstrong and The O'Kaysions ; in a modified form by Ginger Thompson as Boy Watcher . In 1960 the Little Boppers Trails recorded songs Chattanooga Drummer Man and Something Special to Me .
