We Are Monsters is a Swedish horror film from 2015. The Rape and Revenge film was directed by both directors Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund , who also wrote and produced the film with David Liljeblad .

The Australian Emma is as a representative of an oil company in the United States to close an explosive oil deal. On the way to a press conference, she is kidnapped by taxi driver Shirley and taken to the sadist Jim and his mentally handicapped friend Pete. There she was raped and tortured for several days.

After a final anal rape, she is supposed to be executed, but she manages to escape into the surrounding forest. The next morning she meets Pete, who wants to catch her again. In the subsequent scuffle, she manages to kill Pete with a chopper .

Then she overpowers Jim and ties him to a chair. She is now starting to torture him. Among other things, she cuts off one of his feet. When she hits his penis with a hammer, he can tear himself away. In the scuffle that followed, she got the upper hand and killed her tormentor.

When she is about to leave the hut, she meets Shirley. She executes this with a shotgun. Then Emma sets the hut on fire.

The two filmmakers Sonny Laguna and Tommy Wiklund founded their film production company Stockholme Syndrome Films back in 2008. They are best known in the horror film genre for their film Cabin of the Dead (2012), a film that is closely related to the first dance of the devils (1981) leaned on. After this film, however, her film company ran into financial difficulties. However, these could be overcome, so that in 2015 they could not only shoot We Are Monsters , but also the short film The Girl Beneath .

The film premiered in May 2015 at the Nocturna film festival in Madrid. On May 2, 2015, it celebrated its DVD premiere in Japan. On December 11, 2015, the Dutch uncut label Extreme was released for the Austrian and Swiss markets. The DVD in the mediabook was released with two different covers, one of which was limited to 1000 copies and the other to 500 copies. In 2017 the film was reprinted by Red Label.
