We May Never Love Like This Again is a song by Maureen McGovern from the movie Inferno . It won at the Oscars in 1975 the Oscar for Best Song .

The song was written by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn for the film Flammendes Inferno . In the film, singer Maureen McGovern plays herself and performs the song in one scene as a nightclub singer. The song can also be heard in the credits. John Williams , composer of the score, processed the melody in the theme of the film.
The version for the soundtrack album was produced by Carl Madari for Belkie-Madari Production. Joe Hudson arranged the song and Arnbie Rosenberg was involved as a sound engineer.
At the Oscars in 1975, the song and with it the composers Kasha and Hirschhorn was awarded the Oscar for Best Song. In fact, it was the second song to win an Oscar for everyone involved. At the 1973 Academy Awards , the Kasha / Hirschhorn composition The Morning After from the film Die Höllenfahrt der Poseidon also won an Oscar. Maureen McGovern had not sung the song for the soundtrack, but a cover version a year later. In fact, she was called the "Disaster Queen" by the press because both songs plus Wherever Love Takes Me made of gold came from disaster films.
The song peaked at number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed on the charts for four weeks. The song became a big hit in Australia, where it reached number 5 and was number 55 in the annual charts.
