Coordinates: 33 ° 53 '  S , 148 ° 5'  O Weddin Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 3,414.9 km² and has about 3,700 inhabitants.

Weddin is located in the Central West region of the state about 360 km west of the metropolis of Sydney and 210 km northwest of the Australian capital Canberra . The area comprises 27 districts and localities: Arramagong, Arramagong West, Berendebba, Bimbi, Gogalong, Brundah, Bungalong, Caragabal, Eualdrie, Eurabba, Glenelg, Grenfell, Iandra, Mogongong, Ooma, Piney Range, Pullabooka, Quandong, Warraderry, Weddin, Wirega and parts of Bribbaree, Bumbaldry, Greenethorpe, Marsden, Quandialla and Wirrinya. The Shire Council is based in Grenfell in the eastern half of the LGA, where around 2,000 people live.

The Weddin Shire Council has ten members who are elected by the residents of the five wards (two each from Wards A to E). These five districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
