In the 19th century, under Josef and Alois Weger and later under Anton von Mörl, publishing flourished with the publication of important works by, for example, Ludwig Rapp , Franz Anton Sinnacher and Johann Nepomuk Tinkhauser . Many well-known professors of the Brixen seminary publish their works with Weger, so that the publisher was soon known throughout the Austrian monarchy and in Europe .

Anton von Mörl, who was managing director at Alois Weger for ten years, married the heiress Maria Weger and thereby brought the printing, publishing and bookstore into his possession, which is still run by the von Mörl family to this day.

On the 1st Sunday of Advent in 1994, the printing company switched from letterpress printing to flat printing ( offset printing ) and is now a modern company equipped with the latest technology.

In June 2000, the printing company moved from the old town of Brixen, where it had been located since 1931, to the Bressanone industrial park.

The old printing house and the inner courtyard at Großer Graben 3 were restored and rebuilt in 2003. The sales area of the local bookstore "Universitätsverlag A. Weger" could be enlarged and adapted to the new needs. The publishing bookstore and paper shop moved into the new premises on November 7, 2003.

In the summer of 2008 the publishing house and the bookstore A. Weger sympathized with the upcoming summer vacation of Benedict XVI. in Brixen with a large-format welcome greeting on the facade of their office building.

Traditionally, the focus of the publishing program is still on the areas of theology and religion .
