Weißenburg (Schlieben)

Weißenburg is part of the municipality of Schlieben in Brandenburg .

history

Weißenburg is located about two kilometers northwest of the city center of Schlieben. It was mentioned in 1586 and 1675 as Vorwerk Schlieben together with a sheep farm ( Kammergut ). The name Weißenburg appears in 1823 and 1833 and was formed as a contrast to Schwarzenburg , northeast of Schlieben . Until the mid-17th century, the property of the organizing office Schlieben belonging Good on forced labor . To the south of Weißenburg there is a small hill that was used as a place of execution and a gallows hill. At the beginning of the 19th century the estate went into private ownership.
